Meet Pastor Bob

Where to find us

Reverend Robert B. Trask

Here are some things that I hope will allow anyone visiting our website to get to know me and my wife Karen a little better.  We celebrated our 22th anniversary this past January 01, 2020.  We each have two children from prior marriages and three beautiful grandchildren. Karen and I share many things in common e.g. our faith; our care and concern for others both in and out of the Church; a variety of outdoor interests that would include canoeing, deer hunting and fishing. We enjoy the theatre and have both performed on stage with the Bethany Players of Bethany UMC in Latrobe, PA.   We both have worked for many years with the seriously mentally ill who reside at Torrance State Hospital.  I had worked for Westmoreland Case Management & Supports helping to coordinate discharges back to the community when it was clinically appropriate to do so.  Karen was employed initially as a psychiatric aide at Torrance, but, due to a patient injuring her she was taken off the wards and reassigned to do a variety of administrative/clerical jobs in the Nursing Department.   It has been our good pleasure to love God’s people at Torrance – both staff and patients alike. Please know that Karen has a special place in her heart for women that have been the victims of domestic abuse and has had a small ministry making baby quilts for the newborns that have blessed our lives.  I, on the other hand, enjoy cooking a variety of cuisines but especially love making my own sausages and smoked meats.  Karen often says we make a nice “set” because we complement one another.  I couldn’t agree more.

In addition, I have a BA in History from Edinboro (1984) and a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (1988).  In 2008 I became a probationary member of our Annual Conference and was appointed to serve the communities of Conneautville and Hickernell at the Valley Church and Hickernell Church respectively.  I was then ordained an Elder by Bishop Thomas Bickerton at our 2011 Annual Conference.  Karen has served the Church as Chaplain for the Erie United Methodist Alliance since 2009.  She has been  a Certified Lay Minister since 2010 and has served on the Conneautville Charge, the Geneva Faith/Mumford Charge, and the Sugar Lake/Deckarts Charge where she provided pastoral care in that capacity.  Most recently she was appointed to serve as a licensed local pastor for the Brockport Charge on the Kane District.

More than anything else we would like anyone visiting the website to know we love our Lord, we love each other and we love Christ’s Church.  We believe deeply that the best way to love God is by loving others and when we do that we make life better together.

God’s peace,

Pastor Bob
